The teams who will take part in the South American closed qualifier for the Americas Minor have been determined following the conclusion of the open qualification stage.
W7M and paiN were the two teams that prevailed in the first open bracket, with Felipe "skullz" Medeiros and company narrowly securing a quarter-final victory over Keyd before defeating Lincoln "fnx" Lau's RED Canids in a three-map series. paiN had an easier time of things as they made short work of Alma to set up a best-of-three against Imperial, where they managed a pair of 16-11 wins on Train and Inferno to advance to the closed stage.
Imperial's luck did not improve in the second qualifier as they suffered a narrow 14-16 loss to RED Canids in the quarter-finals, leaving them out of contention for this Major cycle. fnx's side were able to make good on their second attempt to qualify however, securing a 2-1 victory over INTZ.Academy after a prolonged delay due to technical issues.
TeamOne, who had qualified for the FLASHPOINT South America closed qualifier earlier in the month, chose not to participate in the qualifier for the FACEIT-produced league due to a scheduling overlap with the second Americas Minor SA closed qualifier. Pedro "Maluk3" Campos's troops ensured that the forfeit of their matches for FLASHPOINT were not in vain as, after initial delays on day one, they made short work of Rensga before being awarded a forfeit win over Evidence to secure the final spot in the closed qualifier.
The final team list for the Americas Minor South America closed qualifier looks as follows:
The South American closed qualifier is set to run from March 3-5, and will utilize a best-of-three, double-elimination bracket to determine two teams that will advance to the Americas Minor, where they will be joined by the top six sides from the NA closed qualifier.
